Contemporary Residental Housing Scheme
The site is located at 40-44 Brighton Road, Horsham and was a former dairy site. Our brief was to design 12 no. flats and 2 no. detached houses with parking, landscaping and a play area. The client was very keen to build in a contemporary style, to set the development apart from other flatted schemes in the area, whilst respecting the general street scene.
The development is set over three floors, with the top floor apartments benefitting from recessed balconies fronting the main road. The main elevations were formed from brickwork, broken with bands of black corium stone, with flatted zinc lined dormers and gun metal aluminium doors and windows. The apartments and houses have the benefit of a small front garden, whilst at the rear of the development, the client incorporated a play area with slide and swings. All parking spaces were provided with electrical charging points.
BHD Architects provided a full RIBA service and the project was completed in November 2018. The project was also enhanced with a creative planting scheme by Draffin Associates.
